Anne-Claire Duchez

Anne-Claire Duchez

Ottawa coordinator & Event coordinator - Planet earth

Anne-Claire is a French researcher that fell in love with science. She loves to explain her research focusing on cardiovascular disease with everyone. Thus, Pint of Science is a perfect match for her: share and spread science with a pint of beer!

Shannon Thompson

Shannon Thompson

Event coordinator - Our Body

You had me at beer. I have recently finished my M.Sc in Neuroscience and am ready to take on a new set of challenges - wherever in the world that may take me! Ready to talk science, baseball (Go Tigers!) and movies over some local craft beer!

Antonietta & Greg McCluskey

Antonietta & Greg McCluskey

Event coordinators - Atoms to Galaxies

As biochemists and postdocs, Anto and Greg are adept at both drinking beer AND talking science. Anto studies the development of heart attacks at a cellular level, and Greg recreates extinct ion channels to figure out how they evolved. Both are very glad that being a nerd is cool now

Chantal Pileggi

Our Body team

I am postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa studying obesity and metabolism. I love hoppy beers and nerd-out to a good science talk.

Alexanne Cuillerier

Alexanne Cuillerier

Our Body team

I am a PhD student working on rare genetic mitochondrial diseases. Originally from Montréal, I moved to Ottawa to pursue my grad studies. Outside of the lab, I do ballet, arts & crafts, some cooking, and enjoy having a pint with my friends.

Julia Nunes

Our Body team

Biochemist by day, biochemist by night. C'est la vie when you're an aspiring PhD student. Outside of research I like Billy Joel, fad diets and jogging outdoors, but I love beer and talking science - especially immunometabolism.

Jérôme Claude

Jérôme Claude

Atoms to Galaxies team

A nerd through and through, Jérôme figured he might as well get paid for it and chose a career in science. He is currently working on his PhD in Physics, looking at new models to explain dark matter. He loves to talk about everything science, and doing so with a beer in hand is just an added bonus

Axiel Yael Birenbaum

Axiel Yael Birenbaum

Atoms to Galaxies team

I am a quantum physicist for the NRC. I use the world's largest computers to model new materials one atom at a time. I am also an advocate for women in STEM and queer people in STEM.

Kaitlyn Margison

Kaitlyn Margison

Atoms to Galaxies team

Best described as a "scientific neophiliac", I always find myself indulging in as much and as diverse science as possible. From organic chemistry to immunometabolism- I enjoy learning all things science. When not in the lab, you'll find me biking along the canal or searching for the next best IPA.....

Caitlin Simopoulos

Caitlin Simopoulos

Planet earth team

I’m a biologist at heart, but prefer to explore science through the computer! As a postdoctoral fellow at uOttawa I use bioinformatics/computational biology to research how substances we consume can affect the microbes living in our gut. Outside of work, I love using other microorganisms to brew be...
