From music to science, how we use Artificial Intelligences to enhance our creativity, and witness their own.
Using Machine Learning Creatively
Pablo Samuel Castro (Senior Software Developer, Google Brain)
The field of machine learning has seen an increase in the last few years, largely due to the impressive(often super-human) results achieved by some of these models. While research has traditionally focused on quantifiable tasks like image-classification and game-playing, there is a growing body of work on using machine learning models and techniques in a creative fashion. This is a space where progress is not easily measurable, but has the potential to take art to exciting new spaces that were previously not possible. In this talk, I will discuss some recent creative uses of machine learning !
How do you teach a computer physics? Artificial intelligence at the nanoscale.
Isaac Tamblyn (Research Scientist, National Research Council of Canada)
Anytime you purchase something online, stream a TV show, or “like” a post on a social network, machine learning is taking place behind-the-scenes. In recent years, learning algorithms have become part of our everyday lives. If a machine can learn to mimic and predict human behaviour, can it do the same with electrons or with molecules? If we can teach a science, can we teach a machine?
