Brain Training 101
Dr. Kim Dorsch (Professor, Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies, University of Regina )
PAY ATTENTION!! Sounds like a simple enough directive. But, is it really that simple? To merely walk through a crowded mall requires the brain to process a great deal of information. The information that is processed is what is attended to; consequently attention has been defined as the gateway of perception into consciousness. At the UofR’s Cognitive Athletic Training (CAT) lab, we are trying to understand this process; and perhaps more importantly, we are looking at ways to train our brains to be faster and more efficient in order to enhance our abilities to interact with the environment.
