Wondrous light: 3-D printing, computing and building bug’s eyes with light beams
Kalai Saravanamuttu (Associate Professor)
In our lab, we generate and work with unusual types of light beams, which can travel over long distances without diminishing in intensity or shape. We will discuss the extraordinary possibilities of these light beams in new types of 3-D printing technologies, in designing materials capable of simple computing functions and in fabricating intelligent coatings, which like the compound eyes of several insects, possess near 3-D vision.
