can be a form of emergency preparedness, building community resilience

Canadian Volcanoes eh? Stories from Mt. Meager and Tseax

Glyn-Williams Jones (Professor, Dept. of Earth Sciences, and Co-Director of the Centre for Natural Hazards Research. Simon Fraser University)
@VolcanoCanuck
Western Canada has had catastrophic volcanic eruptions in the past. The
1700s effusive eruption of Tseax volcano, NW of Terrace B.C., may have killed
up to 2000 people. The largest recent explosive eruption occurred ~2400
years ago at Mt Meager and was similar in size to the 1980 eruption of Mount
St. Helens. These active Canadian volcanoes, along with others, need to be
monitored and studied in much more detail so we can be ready when the next
one erupts!
